What is Arthritis?

Knee pain is incredibly prevalent in American society. In fact, according to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), knee pain is one of the most common reasons that people visit their doctor. Knee pain can be caused by a wide variety of factors, including Arthritis – Arthritis is a general term used to describe inflammation of the joints. There are many different types of arthritis, but osteoarthritis is the most common form that affects the knees. This type of arthritis occurs when the cartilage in your joints breaks down over time, causing pain and stiffness. There are many exercises that can be done for knee pain, as described below

1. Squatting is one of the few strength training exercises that is able to recruit multiple muscle groups in a single movement effectively. Squats are considered one of the most functional and efficient weight-bearing exercises, whether an individual’s goals are sport-specific or for an increased quality of life.

2. Hamstring exercises such as lying leg curls, glute kickbacks, Hip thrusts can help with knee pain as well.

3. Glute bridges are a great way to work your glutes and hamstrings. Lie flat on your back with feet flat on the ground and shoulder-width apart, legs bent to 90 degrees. Drive through your heels to raise your hips off the floor until your thighs and torso are in line with each other,
